Contractors:Each applicant shall submit a statement of good standing from the North Dakota Workforce Safety and Insurance, verifying coverage as well as a certificate of liability insurance from the applicant's insurance carrier.

Electricians:
Applicants must pass a trade examination with a minimum score of 70% and provide documentation of 8,000 hours of experience for a Journeyman license. Must have 576 hours of related training approved by the Federal Bureau of
Apprenticeship and Training, Department of Labor or completion of 2 years or more technical or trade school approved by the Board. 1 year experience as a Journeyman is required for a Master License. Contracting Masters and Class B's are required to pay into an undertaking fund.

Applicants applying for a journeyman plumber license must complete 7600 hours and 4 years of experience as an Apprentice Plumber working for a licensed Master Plumber, provide experience documentation and pass the North Dakota State Plumbing Board examination with a minimum score of 70%. Applicants applying for a master license must be at least 21 years of age, have had 3400 hours and 2 years of experience as a licensed Journeyman plumber working for a licensed Master Plumber, provide experience documentation and pass the North Dakota State Plumbing Board examination with a minimum score of 80%. The North Dakota State Plumbing Board exam is based on the 2009 Uniform Plumbing Code and the Laws, Rules and Plumbing Standards of North Dakota.

Water Conditioning:
Applicants applying for a water conditioning installer license must complete 1,700 hours and 1 year of experience as a Water Conditioning Apprentice working for a licensed Water Conditioning Contractor, provide experience documentation and pass the North Dakota State Plumbing Board examination with a minimum score of 70%. Applicants applying for a water conditioning contractor license must be at least 21 years of age, have had 1,900 hours and 1 year of experience as a Water Conditioning Installer licensed by the State of North Dakota or any other state that has a licensing law, provide experience documentation and pass the North Dakota State Plumbing Board examination with a minimum score of 80%. The North Dakota State Plumbing Board exam is based on the North Dakota Water Conditioning Code.

Applicants applying for a sewer and water installer license must complete 3,400 hours and 2 years of experience as a licensed Sewer and Water Apprentice working for a licensed Sewer and Water Contractor, provide experience documentation and pass the North Dakota State Plumbing Board examination with a minimum score of 70%. Applicants applying for a sewer and water contractor license must complete 1,700 hours and 1 year of experience as a licensed Sewer and Water Installer working for a licensed Sewer and Water Contractor licensed by the State of North Dakota or any other state that has a licensing law, provide experience documentation and pass the North Dakota State Plumbing Board examination with a minimum score of 80%. The North Dakota State Plumbing Board exam is based on the North Dakota Sewer and Water Service Code .

Other:
Public works contracts exceeding $25,000, except for special municipal improvements, require a bond in an amount equal to the contract price. A 5% bond is required for public building contracts valued higher than $50,000.
RECIPROCAL AGREEMENTS
North Dakota has electrical reciprocity agreements for Master and Journeyman with Minnesota and South Dakota and for Journeyman with Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Iowa, Maine, Montana, Nebraska, New Hampshire, Utah and Wyoming. Plumbing reciprocity agreements are in effect for Master and Journeyman with Minnesota and South Dakota and for Journeyman with Montana.
